Welcome to Blakiston Street Animated Christmas Lights
ABOUT US...
It all began a few years ago, decorating the outside of the house for December for our family & neighbours to enjoy.
In 2009 we became the first home in the borough to go ANIMATED in order to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at Stafford District General Hospital.
SO... WHAT'S THE ANIMATED PART ALL ABOUT??
Being animated means having all of the lights running to music. We have by no means whatsoever got as many lights as many other houses in the borough, but we are hoping to at least be doing something different to attract spectators. All of our lighting is being connected up to a computerised controller. Hundreds of hours have been spent programming every flash of lighting to give you a show worth seeing!
The sound is transmitted over short range FM radio so that you can tune in on your car stereo (don't forget to bring a pocket radio if coming on foot!)
CAN I TURN UP ANYTIME OF THE NIGHT?
Pretty much! The show lasts for around 10 minutes and will be shown every 30 minutes, on the hour and half past the hour... from 5pm through to the last show of the evening at 10pm. While the lightshow isn't running we'll have some Christmas songs playing so that you can get your car radio tuned in ready. (The frequency will be displayed on a sign in the garden)
WHERE DO I FIND YOU?
For those of you with SAT NAVS, the postcode is ST16 3PE and the house is on the corner of Blakiston Street at the crossroads with Read Avenue and Prospect Road. Please try to respect our neighbours by not blocking any driveways etc, and also turn off your lights and engines until you leave.
For those coming by foot, head away from the town centre past Stafford Prison, turn right after the prison and before the petrol station into Crooked Bridge Road, and then cross straight over at the lights. Carry on all the way up-hill until you reach the crossroads.

HOW CAN I GIVE A DONATION
Please place all donations (no matter how big or small) through the letterbox on our front door. Make sure that you push them fully though! We previously had an outside mounted box for donations, but have since decided this is not secure enough. All donations will be handed into the Special Care Baby Unit during January 2011. We will of course also post our fundraising figures on this site. (please see the red text at the top of this page)
IS THIS LIKE IN THE AMERICAN CHRISTMAS FILMS?
Very much so, only on a smaller scale for now!! We aim to gradually increase the lighting every year and build up to something even more spectacular in the future!
